Heart of Glass Bundle: Brighten & Strengthen Blonde Hair

From Brita Larsen, senior colorist at Sølvi Salon. I have spent eleven years behind the chair specializing in blonding and balayage, I am Davines-certified, and Heart of Glass is the line I reach for on my own fine blonde hair.

Blonde hair in Boise has a hard job. The lightening that gives you that bright, cool color also opens up the cuticle, and our dry Idaho air pulls moisture out of those thirsty strands all day. So when a client asks me what she can do at home to keep blonde fresh between toning appointments, I point her at one shelf. The Heart of Glass Bundle: Brighten & Strengthen Blonde Hair from Davines is one I reach for most behind the chair, and at $36.90 it is easy to send home.

Here is what is in it, who it is for, and the one type of client I steer away from it.

What is actually in the bundle

The bundle pairs the two core products in the Davines Heart of Glass line: the Heart of Glass Silkening Shampoo and the Heart of Glass Rich Conditioner, the same 250ml retail formulas we use in the studio. It is built for blonde and highlighted hair, pairing violet toning with fortifying ingredients. The violet pigment in the shampoo neutralizes the yellow and brass that creep in between visits, and the conditioner seals it down for slip and shine. Most purple products only tone. This one tones and strengthens at once.

The finish is what sold me on it. A lot of purple shampoos leave hair feeling chalky and squeaky, almost stripped. Heart of Glass rinses out glossy and soft instead. For my clients with fine blonde hair, that difference is why they keep repurchasing.

Who it is for

If you are a blonde or a bleach-lifted client fighting brass and porosity, this set was made for you. I see it work best on the people who sit in my chair for a full highlight or a balayage and then want to protect that investment for the eight to ten weeks until they come back. It folds into a daily or weekly routine without much thought.

It also pairs well with the rest of a blonde care plan. If you are coming in for color or a gloss as part of our salon services, I can show you how to fit this bundle into what you already do at home so the two work together. You can also read our guide to keeping balayage bright between appointments.

Who it is NOT for

I will be straight with you. This is not a universal product, and that is fine. If your hair is not blonde or highlighted, the violet toning will not do anything useful, and on darker natural shades it can leave a dull, cool cast you did not ask for. Brunettes and warm-toned clients should skip it.

It is also a focused toning system, not a deep repair treatment. If your hair is severely damaged or breaking, you need a bond builder and a moisture mask in the rotation too. This bundle keeps tone in check, but it will not rescue strands already at the breaking point. Ask me if you are not sure where your hair sits.

How I tell clients to use it

The application is simple. Massage the shampoo into wet hair, leave it on for two to three minutes, then rinse and follow with the conditioner. The leave-on time is the part people skip, and it is the part that matters. If you rinse it the second it touches your head, the violet pigment never gets a chance to deposit, and you will wonder why your blonde still looks warm. Set a timer in the shower if you have to.

Here is a real example. Last spring a platinum client of mine started using the shampoo every single day because she loved the cool result. Within three weeks her hair had gone flat and slightly grey at the ends, almost ashy. We pulled it back to twice a week, added a hydrating mask on the off days, and her tone came right back to that bright, clean platinum. For Boise blondes in our dry climate, twice a week is the sweet spot. Daily use can over-cool the hair, especially on very pale or platinum shades.

My honest take from behind the chair

This is one of the few blonde products I recommend without a caveat for the right client. It does what it says, and the finish is better than most purple lines. We carry Davines because the formulas perform and the ingredients are clean, and this bundle earns its spot.
