Your First Visit to Sølvi Salon: What to Expect
Share
Your first appointment at Sølvi starts with a consultation, then moves into the service you booked. The whole thing runs on a schedule so you know exactly when you sit down, exactly how long it takes, and exactly what it costs. Our team is small by design. Every appointment gets our full attention.
This post is the walk-through of what that actually looks like from the moment you book to the moment you leave. If you want the bigger picture on pricing, tipping, and how Boise salon costs work, that lives in our pillar on what to tip on a $70 haircut in Boise.
Booking your first appointment
Our booking runs online. It shows real-time availability. If a slot is open, you can take it. If it is grayed out, someone else already did.
Start by picking the service that fits what you want. The Transformation is our full custom color for a bigger change. Sølvi Signature is half custom, dimensional color that grows out without a hard line. Root Refined is a touch-up when we already have a formula on file. For extensions, The Enhancement Method is our hand-tied system, and we also offer K-tips for targeted volume.
If none of that is clear yet, book a consultation. It is a separate appointment where we sit down, look at your hair, and talk through what is realistic. No service happens that day and no pressure to book on the spot. We would rather you leave with a plan than a service you were not sure about. Not sure which fits? Book a consultation and we will figure it out together.
Most weeks you will find openings inside 24 to 48 hours. Two weeks ahead is safer for a specific date, and the calendar fills faster in summer and before holidays.
Getting to the loft
We are on Capitol Boulevard in downtown Boise. The loft is a bright, quiet room flooded with natural light. Clean lines, minimal design, room to breathe.
Parking downtown gets talked about like it is harder than it is. Street parking is usually open within a block or two of the building. There are also paid garages a short walk away if you would rather not circle. Give yourself a few extra minutes on your first visit so you are not rushing in.
When you walk in, you will not find a busy front desk or a wall of retail. The space is intentionally quiet. Somebody on the team will meet you, offer you water or coffee, and get you settled at the chair.
The consultation, before anything else
Even if you booked a service, the appointment starts with a consultation at the chair. This is the part most salons skip or rush. We do not.
We look at your natural base, your current color if you have one, how your hair holds tone, and where it sits in terms of condition. We ask about your routine. How often you wash. What products you use. Whether you heat style, and how often. Whether you swim, and where.
Then we tell you what is realistic. If your hair cannot lift to the blonde in the reference photo without breaking, we say that. If the color you want will pull orange in Boise water without a specific toning schedule, we say that too. Boise water is hard and the air is dry, and both of those change how color behaves. If you want the full breakdown on why color fades faster here, we wrote about it in why does my hair color fade so fast in Boise summers.
This is also where we talk about time and cost. Our pricing is all-inclusive by design, so the number we quote is the number you pay. No add-ons at the sink. No surprise toner charge at the register.
If the plan does not match what you had in mind, you can walk out. We do not take it personally.
The service itself
Once we agree on the plan, we start. For color, that is sectioning, applying, processing, rinsing, toning if needed, then a cut and style. Depending on what you booked, plan on anywhere from an hour and a half to five hours. The consultation portion earlier tells you the exact number for your visit.
We do not bounce between chairs. When you are in our chair, you have our full attention. Nobody else is being shampooed while we are painting your color. Nobody else is being cut while we are explaining your aftercare. That is what full attention actually means in practice, and it is the whole reason we stay small.
The products we use behind the chair are chosen the same way we choose what to put on the retail shelf. Slowly, and only after we have used them long enough to know how they perform on real hair. Davines shows up a lot in our work, both in-service and at-home, because it holds up in dry climates and it does not fight the kind of quiet, edited finish we are after.
Checkout, aftercare, and rebooking
Before you leave, we walk you through what to expect over the next few weeks. How the color will settle. When to come back. What products will keep it looking the way it does the day you walk out the door.
We also take notes. Your formula, your base, what worked, what did not, what to adjust next time. When you rebook, we pull those notes so we are not starting from zero. Your second visit is faster and more accurate than your first because of it.
Most first-time clients rebook before they leave. It is easier than trying to remember when you are eight weeks out and your roots are showing. If you would rather think about it, that is fine. Just do not wait until the day you need an appointment.
Frequently Asked Questions
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Reference photos help more than words. Bring a few of the color or cut you like, and a few of what you do not want. If you have had color done before, a rough history of what has been on your hair (box color, previous highlights, gloss) makes the consultation faster.
Can I get color and a cut in the same visit?
Yes. Most of our color services include the cut and style at the end. If you are booking a stand-alone cut, that is a separate appointment. The booking system shows what is included in each service.
How long will my first appointment take?
Anywhere from an hour and a half for a cut and style to four or five hours for a full custom color with extensions. The consultation at the start of your visit locks in the exact time, so you will know before we begin.
Does Sølvi take walk-ins?
We run on scheduled appointments. Our team is small by design and every appointment gets a full block of time, which does not work if we are holding chairs open. If you need something soon, check the booking system for same-day or next-day openings.
What if I do not like the result?
Tell us before you leave. Adjustments at the same appointment are the easiest fix, and we would rather add ten minutes of toner than have you sit with something that is not right. If something surfaces after a wash or two at home, reach out and we will get you back in.
How far ahead should I book my first appointment?
One to two weeks is typical. Summer and pre-holiday weeks fill faster. If you have a specific date in mind for an event or a trip, book as early as you can.
Do you offer new client specials or discounts?
Our pricing is all-inclusive and consistent, which means we do not run discount promotions. What you get instead is one price, quoted up front, with no add-ons at checkout.
