Best Hair Salon in Boise, Idaho | Sølvi Salon

Best Hair Salon in Boise, Idaho | Sølvi Salon

Your Boise Hair Salon on Capitol Boulevard

Sølvi Salon sits right in the heart of downtown Boise, on the second floor of 104 South Capitol Boulevard. It's a loft space with huge windows, tons of natural light, and a calm that you don't usually find in hair salons. No loud music competing with blow dryers. No chaos. Just a clean, bright room where you can actually relax while your hair gets taken care of.

We built Sølvi around a pretty simple idea: do great hair in a space that feels good to be in. The name pulls from Scandinavian roots, and so does the vibe. Think clean lines, warm wood, simple everything. It's the kind of place where you walk in, take a breath, and feel your shoulders drop a little. That's on purpose. Every detail in the salon was chosen to create an environment where you feel comfortable from the moment you step through the door. No pretension. No gatekeeping. Just good people doing good work in a beautiful room.

If you've been bouncing around Boise trying different salons and never quite finding your spot, we get it. A lot of our clients tell us the same thing. They tried four or five places before landing here, and then they stopped looking. That's the goal. We want to be your last salon search in Boise. And we think once you sit in our chair and experience how things are done here, you'll understand why people stay.

Why Boise Locals Choose Sølvi

Downtown Boise has changed a lot in the last few years. There's more energy, more people walking around, more of that small-city-that-acts-like-a-big-city feeling. Sølvi fits right into that. We're on Capitol Boulevard, a short walk from the Basque Block, the Saturday farmers market, 8th Street restaurants, and basically everything that makes downtown Boise worth spending time in. Park once, get your hair done, grab lunch at one of the spots on 8th Street, walk along the Greenbelt if it's nice out. Your salon appointment becomes part of a whole downtown morning or afternoon, which is how it should be.

But location is only part of it. What keeps Boise locals coming back is how we actually do things. We price everything all-inclusive. That means when you book a color service, the gloss and blowout are included in the quoted price. No surprise charges at the register. No awkward "oh, that's extra" moment halfway through your appointment. You know what you're paying before you sit down. That matters to people, and honestly, it should be standard everywhere. We're not sure why more salons don't operate this way, but we've been doing it since day one and we're not changing.

We've also built real relationships in this city. Our clients aren't just names on a booking screen. We know them. We know their hair history, what they've loved, what they've hated, what they're trying to grow out from that one time in 2019 when they went too dark or that box dye experiment during the pandemic. That kind of continuity makes a huge difference in your results. Hair isn't one-size-fits-all, and a stylist who actually knows your hair will always outperform one who's meeting you for the first time and starting from scratch.

There's something else that sets us apart in the Boise salon scene. We keep our appointment book intentionally manageable. You won't walk in to find eight clients being juggled by three stylists. When you're booked with us, you have your stylist's full attention for your entire appointment. No double-booking. No bouncing between chairs. Just focused, attentive work from start to finish. In a city where everyone's moving fast and everything feels a little rushed, having someone give you their complete attention for an hour or two is honestly kind of rare. And it makes a difference in the quality of work.

Boise is a city that values doing things well without being pretentious about it. People here can spot fake from a mile away. That's exactly how we run Sølvi. Great work, fair prices, a beautiful space, and zero attitude. Come as you are. Yoga pants, work clothes, whatever. We don't care what you're wearing. We care about your hair.

What Makes Sølvi Different

The All-Inclusive Approach to Salon Pricing

Here's something that drives people crazy about most salons: you book a color appointment, you get your color done, and then at checkout there are add-ons you didn't expect. A gloss is extra. A blowout is extra. Toner is extra. By the time you're done, the bill is 30-40% higher than what you thought you were paying. It feels bad. It erodes trust. And it makes you not want to go back.

We don't do that. At Sølvi, every single color service includes a custom gloss and a professional blowout. It's all built into the price. When we quote you $175 for a Sølvi Signature color, that's what you pay. The gloss that makes your color shine, the blowout that makes you look incredible walking out the door, it's all part of the package. We think that's how it should work, and we're not interested in nickel-and-diming anyone. It's honestly just a more respectful way to run a business.

This approach also means your stylist can make the best creative decisions without worrying about upselling you. If your hair needs a gloss to look its absolute best, it gets one. Period. If the blowout needs a little extra time to get right, that's fine too. The focus stays entirely on results, not on running up a tab. When the financial pressure is removed, the artistry gets better. It's that simple.

We've had so many new clients tell us this is the reason they switched to Sølvi. Not because their old salon was bad at hair, but because they were tired of the pricing games. Once you experience straightforward, all-inclusive pricing, it's really hard to go back to the old way.

The Scandinavian-Inspired Space

Sølvi is a loft. Second floor, big windows, natural light pouring in all day long. The design is intentionally minimal. Light wood, clean surfaces, neutral tones, plants, and not much else. It feels more like a really nice apartment than a traditional salon. There's no visual clutter. No neon signs. No product displays crammed into every available surface.

That's the Scandinavian influence showing up in every detail. There's a concept called "hygge" that's basically about creating warmth and comfort in simple spaces. That's what we were going for when we designed Sølvi. No fluorescent overhead lighting. No mirrors surrounded by Hollywood bulbs. Just natural, beautiful light that also happens to be the best possible light for doing hair. Your color looks the same in our salon as it does outside in the real world, which means no surprises when you leave and check your reflection in your car mirror.

The space is calm on purpose. We keep the music low and the energy relaxed. We keep our appointment book manageable so it never feels crowded or rushed. You're not squeezed between two other clients while your stylist bounces back and forth between chairs. When you're in our chair, you have our full, undivided attention. A lot of clients tell us they look forward to their Sølvi appointment not just because of the hair results but because the hour or two they spend here actually feels like a break from their day. It's a reset. And in Boise, where everyone seems to be running from one thing to the next, that kind of pause is valuable.

We also keep the salon meticulously clean. Not just presentable, but genuinely spotless. Every station is cleaned between clients. Tools are sanitized. The space always smells good without being overpowering. These details matter, even if you don't consciously notice them. They're part of why the experience feels different here.

Davines Products and Why They Matter

We use Davines for our color and care products, and there's a real reason behind that choice. Davines is an Italian company that's been making professional hair products since the 1980s. They're a certified B Corporation, which means they actually meet verified standards for social and environmental performance. It's not just marketing talk or a green logo slapped on a bottle. They walk the walk.

But here's what matters most to you as a client sitting in our chair: the products work incredibly well. Davines color is rich, predictable, and gentle on hair. It doesn't destroy your hair's integrity to get beautiful color. Their care line, including shampoos, conditioners, and treatments, is formulated without sulfates, parabens, and a bunch of other stuff you probably don't want sitting on your scalp. Your hair feels better after using them. It looks healthier. And the color lasts noticeably longer than what you'd get with cheaper product lines.

We've tried a lot of product lines over the years. We've worked with the big names, the indie brands, the hyped-up lines that influencers push. Davines is what we keep coming back to because the results speak for themselves. When clients tell us their hair has never felt this good, that's partly technique and partly product. We're not going to compromise on either one. The products you use matter, and we've chosen the best we've found.

We carry the full Davines retail line in the salon, so if you fall in love with what your stylist uses during your appointment (and you probably will), you can take the same products home. No pressure to buy anything, ever. But if you ask, we'll tell you exactly what your hair needs and why.

Real Consultations (We Actually Listen)

This might sound basic, but it's shockingly rare in the salon world: we listen to what you want. Like, really listen. Not the kind of listening where someone nods while mentally planning what they're going to do anyway. Actual, engaged listening where your input directly shapes the outcome.

Before any service, we sit down and talk through what you're hoping for, what you've liked in the past, what hasn't worked, and what your daily hair routine actually looks like. Because all of that matters. If you're someone who air-dries and never picks up a curling iron, we're not going to give you a style that requires 45 minutes of work every morning. If you wash your hair twice a week, we'll factor that into the color formulation. If you swim every day in summer, we'll plan for that. Your real life informs every decision we make in the chair.

We also look at your hair's current condition, your natural texture, your face shape, your skin tone, and even your personal style. All of that factors into our recommendations. Sometimes what a client comes in wanting isn't quite right for them, and we'll say so honestly. Not in a pushy way. Not in a condescending way. Just a "hey, here's what I'm thinking and why." You always have the final call, but you'll have real information and professional perspective to make that call with.

First-time clients can book a standalone consultation if they want to talk things through before committing to a service. No pressure, no charge for the conversation, no obligation to book. It's worth it, especially for big changes like going significantly lighter, correcting a color that went wrong, or getting extensions for the first time. A 15-minute conversation can save you hours of uncertainty.

The Membership Programs

We created our membership programs for clients who come in regularly and want to simplify the whole process. Instead of paying per visit and trying to remember when you're due for your next appointment, you pay a monthly fee and your appointments are handled. It takes the thinking out of hair maintenance, and it saves you money compared to booking individual services.

Here's what we offer:

Root Club$99/month

For clients who get their roots done regularly. This membership keeps you on a consistent schedule and saves you money over booking individual root appointments. Your color always looks fresh because you're never going too long between visits. You'll never have that panicked "oh no, my roots are showing and I can't get in for two weeks" moment again. Root Club members get priority booking so you always get the time slot that works best for your schedule.

Weekly Ritual$150/month

For the client who loves a weekly blowout or styling session. You come in once a week, we make your hair look amazing, and you go about your life feeling polished and put together. It's become a genuine ritual for a lot of our Boise clients, especially professionals who want that always-looks-great feeling without doing it themselves every morning. Some members come in on Monday mornings to start the week right. Others prefer Friday afternoons as a treat. Whatever works for you.

Lifestyle Member$85/month

Our most flexible option. This membership gives you access to a range of services at a discounted monthly rate. Great for clients who rotate between different services throughout the year, maybe a color refresh one month, a deep conditioning treatment the next, a blowout before a special event. It's designed to flex with your needs rather than locking you into one specific service.

All memberships include priority booking, which means you get first pick of appointment times before the general schedule opens up. For our regulars who have a preferred day and time, that alone is worth it. Memberships are month-to-month with no long-term contracts. If it's not working for you, just let us know. No hard feelings, no cancellation fees, no drama.

Full Hair Services Menu at Sølvi Salon Boise

Here's everything we offer at Sølvi. Remember, every color service includes a custom gloss and professional blowout at no extra charge. Prices listed are starting prices and may vary based on hair length, thickness, and the specific work involved. We'll always give you an accurate quote during your consultation before any work begins.

Color Services

Color is what we're known for in Boise. It's where our stylists really shine (pun intended). Every color service at Sølvi includes a custom gloss for shine and tone correction, plus a professional blowout so you leave looking your absolute best. No add-ons, no surprises at checkout.

Root RefinedStarting at $110

This is your go-to root maintenance service. We match your existing color, blend everything seamlessly at the root line, and send you out looking freshly done from scalp to ends. If you're already happy with your overall color and just need those roots handled every few weeks, this is the one to book. Most clients come in every 4-6 weeks for Root Refined, depending on how fast their hair grows and their tolerance for visible regrowth. It's our most frequently booked color service for a reason: it keeps you looking consistently great without requiring a full overhaul each time. Includes gloss and blowout.

Sølvi SignatureStarting at $175

Our signature color service and the one most new clients book. This is for clients who want more than a simple root touch-up. Think balayage, highlights, lowlights, dimensional color, babylights, or a full refresh of your existing look. Your stylist will customize the technique based on your hair goals, your natural base color, and what will look best as it grows out. This is our most popular service, and for good reason. It's where the real artistry happens. Your stylist has the freedom to blend multiple techniques, create depth and dimension, and build a color that looks incredible in person (not just in salon lighting). Expect to be in the chair for 2-3 hours depending on the work involved. Includes gloss and blowout.

TransformationStarting at $225

Going from dark to light? Correcting a color that went wrong at another salon or from a box dye? Want a completely new look that's a major shift from where you are now? That's a transformation. These appointments are longer, more involved, and require serious skill and experience. We'll have a detailed consultation first to make sure we're on the same page about the end goal and that the timeline is realistic. Some transformations happen in one session. Others are a multi-visit process spread over several weeks to protect your hair's integrity. We'll be completely straight with you about what to expect, how many sessions it'll likely take, and what the total investment will look like. No one here is going to promise you platinum blonde in one sitting if your hair can't handle it safely. Includes gloss and blowout.

Face FrameStarting at $145

Face-framing color has become incredibly popular, and we love doing it. This service focuses the lightness and dimension around your face, the pieces that frame your features and catch the light when people look at you. It brightens your whole appearance without going full head of highlights. It's lower maintenance than all-over color and grows out beautifully because the placement is strategic and natural-looking. If you want a noticeable change without a ton of ongoing upkeep, or if you want to test the waters before going bigger with color, start here. A lot of our clients use Face Frame as their regular service and never feel the need to do more. Includes gloss and blowout.

All Over$145

A single, all-over color from roots to ends. This could be a rich brunette, a warm copper, a cool ash blonde, a deep espresso, or whatever shade you're after. It's the most straightforward color service we offer, and it's great for covering gray completely, refreshing faded color, or making a clean change to a new single-process shade. Sometimes the simplest approach is the best one. If you know exactly what color you want and you want it consistent from root to tip, All Over is the way to go. Includes gloss and blowout.

Gloss & Tone$95

Not ready for a full color service? A gloss and tone refreshes your existing color, adds a beautiful shine, and corrects any brassiness, fading, or unwanted warmth that's crept in since your last color appointment. It's a great maintenance step between bigger color services. Think of it as a reset button for your current shade. Takes less time than a full color service (usually about an hour), costs less, and leaves your hair looking and feeling incredible. A lot of our clients add a Gloss & Tone appointment halfway between their regular color services to keep everything looking salon-fresh. Includes blowout.

Haircuts

A great haircut is the foundation of everything else. It's what makes your color look intentional, your styling easier, and your hair feel like it's actually working with you instead of against you. Every cut at Sølvi starts with a conversation and ends with a style.

Women's HaircutStarting at $65

Every cut starts with a real conversation about what you want. We'll talk about what you like about your current cut, what bugs you, how much time you actually spend styling every day, and what tools you use (or don't use). Then we cut based on your hair's natural texture, your face shape, your neck length, and your real, actual life. No cookie-cutter cuts here. We want your hair to look great on day one when you leave the salon and still look great when you roll out of bed on day four without touching it. That means cutting in a way that works with your natural movement, not against it. A wash and style are included with every cut. We'll also show you how to recreate the style at home with whatever tools you actually own.

Men's Haircut$35

Clean, well-executed men's cuts. We handle fades, skin fades, textured tops, classic side parts, longer styles, crew cuts, and everything in between. Quick, precise, and you'll look sharp walking out the door. A lot of the guys who come in tell us they started because their wife or girlfriend raved about the salon. They stay because the cuts are genuinely that good and the experience is comfortable. If you've only ever been to chain barber shops or the $15 quick-cut places, you'll notice the difference immediately. It's not just a haircut. It's a cut that actually fits your head shape, your hair texture, and your style.

Hair Extensions in Boise

Extensions are a big investment, both financially and in terms of the trust you're placing in your stylist. We take that seriously. We offer three proven methods, each suited to different hair types, lifestyles, and goals. Every extensions client gets a thorough in-person consultation before we start any work. We'll assess your natural hair's condition, discuss your goals, show you samples, and make sure you're fully informed before moving forward.

Genius Wefts

Genius wefts are one of the newest and most advanced extension methods available. They're ultra-thin, practically flat, and lay completely flush against your head. When installed properly, they're virtually undetectable to the touch. You can wear high ponytails, braids, and updos without worrying about anyone seeing your extensions. They're fantastic for adding both length and volume without any of the bulk or heaviness that older extension methods are known for. If you want extensions that nobody can tell are extensions, even when they run their fingers through your hair, genius wefts are the way to go. They're also incredibly comfortable to sleep in, which matters more than people realize.

Hand-Tied Extensions

Hand-tied wefts are the gold standard in the extensions world for a reason. They're lightweight, comfortable, and blend naturally with your own hair in a way that looks completely seamless. The wefts are sewn onto a bead row that sits flat against your scalp. Once they're in, they move like natural hair. They don't pull. They don't damage your own hair when applied and maintained correctly by a skilled stylist. And they last for months with proper care and regular maintenance appointments. We custom-color-match every single set of hand-tied extensions so the blend is perfect. No one should be able to tell where your hair ends and the extensions begin. That's the standard we hold ourselves to.

K-Tip Extensions (Keratin Bond)

K-tips, also known as keratin tip extensions, are individual strand extensions that are bonded to your natural hair using a keratin-based adhesive. They offer the most natural movement and styling versatility of any extension method because each strand moves independently, just like your real hair. They're ideal if you want to add length, fill in thin areas, or create density without any wefts or beading. K-tips are particularly great for clients with finer hair who need a more discreet application method. The application process takes longer than weft methods, but the results are seamless and natural. With proper care, k-tip extensions last 3-4 months before needing to be moved up.

Texture Services

Smoothing TreatmentStarting at $250

If you spend way too much time fighting frizz, battling humidity, or wrestling with your blow dryer every single morning, a smoothing treatment will genuinely change your daily routine. It cuts your styling time dramatically (most clients report going from 30+ minutes to under 10), eliminates frizz and flyaways, and gives you that effortlessly smooth, polished look for months. We use professional-grade formulas that smooth the hair cuticle without damaging your hair's structure or making it look flat and lifeless. You still get movement and body. Just without the chaos. It's one of our most popular services in Boise, especially during those dry Idaho winters when static takes over everything, and during summer when Boise's heat and occasional humidity can make hair unpredictable. The treatment lasts about 3-4 months depending on your hair type and how often you wash.

Perms

Yes, perms are back. And no, they're not your grandma's perm from 1987. Modern perms create natural-looking waves and curls that give your hair body, texture, and movement without looking overdone or crunchy. The techniques and formulas have come a long way. If you've always wanted beachy waves or soft, loose curls but your naturally straight hair won't hold a curl from a curling iron for more than an hour, a perm might be exactly what you need. We can do everything from subtle, barely-there waves to more defined curls, depending on the rod size and wrapping technique we use. We'll consult on curl size, placement, and overall look before we start so you know exactly what to expect. Modern perms last 3-6 months and are a great way to add volume and texture to flat, lifeless hair.

Styling Services

Blowout$49

A professional wash and blowout. That's it. Come in with day-three hair, bedhead, or just a mess, and leave looking polished and put together. Great before a date night, a special event, a big work meeting, family photos, or just because you want to feel good on a random Tuesday for no particular reason. Takes about 30-40 minutes, and the results last for days if you protect your hair while sleeping (we'll show you how). Our blowouts aren't just about volume and bounce. Your stylist will work with your hair's natural texture to create a finish that looks like the best possible version of your hair, whether that's sleek and smooth, voluminous and bouncy, or somewhere in between. It's a small luxury that makes a big difference in how you feel.

The Sølvi Experience: What to Expect at Your First Visit

Walking into Sølvi for the first time, you'll notice it doesn't feel like most salons. It's quiet. There's natural light everywhere. The space smells good but not overwhelming. The music is low and unobtrusive. Someone will greet you by name, offer you something to drink, and let you settle in for a minute before your appointment starts. No one's going to rush you.

Your appointment starts with a real conversation. Not a rushed "so what are we doing today?" while they're already reaching for the cape and mixing color. Your stylist will sit down with you, look at reference photos if you've brought them (and we encourage you to bring them), talk through your hair history, discuss what's worked and what hasn't, and make sure you're both completely aligned on the plan before anything happens. This usually takes 10-15 minutes, and it's the most important part of the entire appointment. Everything that follows is built on this conversation.

Once you're in the chair, your stylist is focused entirely on you. Not bouncing between three clients at different stages. Not checking their phone between foils. Not having side conversations while your color processes. You. The entire time. If you're getting color, they'll explain what they're doing and why as they work. If you want to chat about your weekend plans or what's happening in Boise, they're great conversationalists. If you want to close your eyes and zone out for a while, that's completely fine too. No pressure either way. It's your time.

The actual service is thorough and unhurried. Color is applied with precision and care, section by section. Cuts are methodical, with attention to how your hair falls naturally, how it moves when you shake your head, and how it'll lay when it air-dries. Extensions are placed with patience and an obsessive eye for seamless blending. Nothing is rushed because nothing should be. If it takes an extra 15 minutes to get things perfect, that's what happens. We don't cut corners to stay on schedule.

During processing time (while your color develops, for example), you're comfortable. Good lighting for reading. A drink nearby. No one hovering. It's genuinely relaxing time, not just dead time you have to endure.

Before you leave, your stylist will show you exactly how to style your hair at home using whatever tools you actually own (not some fantasy routine requiring seven products and a round brush collection). They'll recommend products if you ask, but there's no hard sell if you don't. And they'll make sure you're happy. Like, genuinely happy. Not just "yeah it looks fine" happy, but "wow, this is exactly what I wanted" happy. If something isn't right, we fix it right then. That's the deal.

You'll walk out onto Capitol Boulevard, catch your reflection in a window, and smile. That's the Sølvi experience. And it happens every single time.

What Boise Clients Are Saying About Sølvi Salon

"I've been going to Sølvi for about eight months now and my hair has never looked this good. I tried so many salons around Boise before this and always left feeling like something was slightly off. Like it was close but not quite right. Here, they actually take time to figure out what works for YOUR specific hair, not just what's trending on Instagram. My balayage grows out so naturally that I can go 12 weeks between appointments without it looking bad or having an obvious line. I've gotten more compliments on my hair in the last eight months than in the previous five years combined. Not exaggerating."

- Rachel M., North End

"I was honestly really nervous about extensions because I'd heard horror stories about damage and bad blending and extensions that look obviously fake. My stylist at Sølvi spent almost an hour during the consultation just answering my questions and explaining the different methods. She didn't push me toward the most expensive option. She actually steered me toward what she thought would work best for my hair type. I ended up going with hand-tied wefts and I'm completely obsessed. They're so comfortable I forget they're in. I can wear my hair up without worrying. My friends keep asking what I did differently and genuinely don't believe me when I say they're extensions."

- Danielle K., Boise Bench

"The loft space is just beautiful. I go to a lot of salons for work (I'm a wedding photographer) and this one genuinely stands out. But beyond the aesthetics, the color work is on another level. I came in wanting to go from a dark box dye to a warm caramel and they were completely honest about the process. Told me it would take two sessions and explained exactly why rushing it would be a bad idea. The first session got me to a really pretty in-between shade, and the second session nailed the caramel perfectly. No one else in Boise was willing to be that upfront with me. Everyone else just said 'yeah we can do that in one visit' which I now know would have fried my hair."

- Megan T., Southeast Boise

"My husband started coming here because I literally dragged him in, and now he books his own appointments without me even reminding him. That says everything you need to know. His cut is always clean and it actually holds its shape for weeks between visits instead of looking weird after day three. He'd been going to a chain barber for years and the difference is night and day. He even commented on how the salon 'smells good' which is not something he's ever said about anywhere. Also, the all-inclusive pricing is so refreshing. I love knowing exactly what I'm going to pay when I walk in. No math at the register."

- Jessica L., Harris Ranch

"I signed up for the Root Club membership about six months ago and it's been a total game changer for me. I used to constantly forget to book my root touch-up, then scramble to get an appointment at the last minute, and end up going way too long between visits. Now it's just handled. I go every five weeks like clockwork, my roots never get out of control, and the monthly payment is so much easier to budget for than a surprise $150 hit every couple months. Plus I get priority booking so I always get my preferred Thursday morning slot. Wish I'd done this years ago honestly."

- Amy S., Downtown Boise

"Got a smoothing treatment right before winter because my hair turns into a static, frizzy disaster every single year when the Idaho cold and dry air hit. Cannot believe the difference. My blow dry time went from like 25 minutes of fighting with a round brush to about 10 minutes of easy, smooth drying. My hair looks polished and healthy even on the worst, driest days. I'm not fighting it anymore. I told every woman in my office about it and two of them have already booked their own appointments. Also the fact that it lasted through the entire winter was amazing. Sølvi is the real deal. Don't sleep on this place."

- Courtney R., West Boise

Frequently Asked Questions About Sølvi Salon Boise

Where is Sølvi Salon located?

We're at 104 South Capitol Boulevard, Suite 200, in downtown Boise, Idaho 83702. That's the second floor of the building right on Capitol Blvd. We're close to the Basque Block, a few blocks from 8th Street, and easy to find whether you're coming from the Connector, State Street, or any of the main routes into downtown. If you're using GPS, just punch in the address and it'll take you right to us. Look for the building at Capitol and Main.

Do I need an appointment?

Yes, we're appointment-only. We don't take walk-ins. We do this on purpose so every client gets our full, undivided attention and nobody's sitting around waiting while we squeeze in extra people. You can book online through our Vagaro scheduling page, call us at (208) 608-4734, or send an email to solvisalon@solvisalon.com and we'll get you set up. We recommend booking at least a week in advance for most services and 2-3 weeks out for extensions or transformations. That said, last-minute openings do pop up sometimes, so it never hurts to call and ask if you need something sooner.

What's included in a color service?

Every color service at Sølvi includes a custom gloss and a professional blowout. That's standard across the board, not an add-on or an upsell. When we quote you a price for any color service, that's the actual price you'll pay. No extras showing up on your bill at checkout. No "oh, did you want a blowout with that? That's an additional $45" surprise. We think this should be the norm in our industry, and we're honestly kind of surprised more Boise salons don't do it this way. It's just more honest.

How much does a haircut cost?

Women's haircuts start at $65 and men's cuts are $35. The exact price can vary a bit based on the stylist level and the complexity of the cut, but those are your starting points and most clients fall right around there. Every cut includes a thorough consultation, a wash, the cut itself, and a finished style. No hidden fees, no tipping pressure, just straightforward pricing for great work.

Do you do extensions?

Absolutely. Extensions are one of our specialties. We offer three methods: genius wefts, hand-tied extensions, and k-tip (keratin bond) extensions. Each method has different benefits depending on your natural hair type, your goals, your lifestyle, and your budget. We require an in-person consultation before any extensions service so we can look at your hair, assess its condition, discuss all your options in detail, and make sure you're getting the right method for your specific situation. Extensions are a real investment and we want you to feel confident and informed before we start. The consultation is free and there's no obligation to book.

What products do you use?

We're a Davines salon. Davines is an Italian brand that's been making professional hair products since the 1980s. They're a certified B Corporation with real, verified sustainability practices. Most importantly for you, their products are excellent. The color line is rich, long-lasting, and gentle on your hair. Their care products (shampoos, conditioners, masks, styling products) are formulated without sulfates, parabens, and other harsh chemicals. Your hair genuinely feels and looks better when quality products are used on it. We carry the full Davines retail line in the salon if you want to use the same products at home, but there's never any pressure to buy.

Is there parking downtown?

Yes, plenty. There's metered street parking on Capitol Boulevard and all the surrounding streets. Meters in downtown Boise are pretty reasonable and there's usually availability during our operating hours. There are also several parking garages within a block or two if you prefer covered parking or if street spots are taken. If you're coming during the week (Tuesday through Friday), you can usually find street parking within a block pretty easily. Saturdays can be a little busier depending on what events are happening downtown, so give yourself an extra five minutes. The good news is, once you park, you're right there. No long walk required.

How do the memberships work?

We have three membership tiers. Root Club ($99/month) keeps your root color on a consistent, automated schedule so it always looks fresh. Weekly Ritual ($150/month) gives you a weekly blowout or styling session, which is perfect for professionals or anyone who loves having salon-quality hair every week. Lifestyle Member ($85/month) is our most flexible option with access to various services at a reduced monthly rate. All memberships include priority booking, so you get first pick of appointment times before the general schedule opens up. Everything is month-to-month with no long-term contracts. If you want to pause or cancel, just let us know. No fees, no hassle.

Can I get a consultation first?

Of course. We actually encourage it, especially if you're a new client, considering a big color change, thinking about extensions, or just not sure where to start. A consultation lets us see your hair in person, talk through your goals and concerns, and give you an honest, realistic assessment of what's possible, what it'll cost, and how long it'll take. There's zero pressure to book a service on the spot. It's just a conversation between you and a professional who wants to help you figure out the best path forward. Call or email to set one up.

What if I'm not sure what I want?

That's totally fine and more common than you'd think. A lot of clients come in knowing they want a change but not knowing exactly what that change should be. That's literally what we're here for. Bring in photos of looks you like (Pinterest boards, Instagram saves, screenshots from anywhere, celebrity photos, whatever). Even if the photos are all over the place and don't seem to match, they give your stylist clues about what you're drawn to. From there, your stylist will help narrow things down based on your hair type, your natural coloring, your maintenance tolerance, and what'll realistically work with your lifestyle. Some of our best results have come from clients who walked in saying "I don't know, just make it better" and trusted their stylist to guide the process.

Do you do men's hair?

We do, and we're good at it. Men's cuts are $35 and include a wash, cut, and style. We handle fades, textured crops, classic cuts, longer styles, and everything in between. A growing number of our regular clients are guys who came in once (usually because their partner dragged them) and never went back to their old barber. You don't need to feel weird about coming to a salon instead of a barber shop. The vibe is comfortable and low-key, and the results speak for themselves. Good hair is good hair regardless of gender.

What's The Enhancement Method?

The Enhancement Method is our approach to extensions, color, and overall hair design that focuses on enhancing what you naturally have rather than fighting against it. Instead of forcing your hair into something it doesn't want to do or covering up your natural beauty with something artificial-looking, we work with your natural texture, your growth patterns, your bone structure, and your coloring to create a result that looks like the best possible version of your own hair. It's a philosophy more than a single technique, and it runs through everything we do at Sølvi. Whether you're getting a simple gloss or a full set of extensions, the goal is always the same: make it look like you, just better.
