If you have ever walked into our downtown studio and wondered what that warm, woodsy scent is, this is it. The Davines OI Ambiance To Go Kit is the little fragrance set that keeps our space smelling the way our regulars expect. Clients ask about it constantly, usually somewhere between the shampoo bowl and the blow-dry, so I want to walk you through what it actually is and why we keep it on the shelf.
What it actually is
This is a room fragrance kit, not a hair product, and that surprises people at first. Inside the box you get a 30ml bottle of the OI Ambience scent spray and a small glazed white ceramic disk. The disk is the diffuser. You spray the fragrance onto it, and the ceramic holds the scent and releases it slowly into whatever small space you tuck it into. The scent itself is the signature OI profile: thyme and pine up top, then a soft base of musk and amber. It reads warm and a little herbal, the same note you catch the moment you step through our door.
Why we keep it at the studio
Scent is part of how a salon feels, and most people never notice it until it goes missing. We tuck these disks in a few spots around the studio so the OI fragrance carries through the space without anything overpowering. It is the smell our regulars connect with sitting in the chair, and more than a few have asked to take that feeling home with them. That is really what this kit is for. It lets you carry a piece of the Sølvi experience into your own drawers and bags, so your sweaters or your travel kit catch the same scent you know from your appointments.
How we use it
The method is simple, and it is worth doing correctly because the disk is the whole trick. Hold the bottle a few inches from the ceramic and give it about five sprays on one side, then flip it and do five more on the other. Let it sit for around fifteen seconds so the surface dries and stops feeling damp to the touch. Then place the disk wherever you want the scent to live: a dresser drawer, a wardrobe, a bedside table, or a zipped pocket in your weekender bag. The ceramic handles the slow release for you. When the scent fades after a stretch of weeks, you just spray it again. No plugs, no flame, no fuss.
Who it is not for
Here is the honest part. This is a scent for contained spaces, not a whole-room diffuser. A disk in a drawer or a bag works beautifully. Set it on an open shelf in a large living room and you will barely notice it. The fragrance is also genuinely herbal, with that pine and thyme character, so if you lean toward sweet or floral scents this one may not be your favorite. And it does need a refresh every few weeks as the scent settles down. I would rather you know all of that before you buy than have it sit unused in a closet.
Is it worth it
At thirty dollars, the kit is an easy yes for the right person. The ceramic disk is reusable for as long as you own it, and the 30ml bottle goes a long way at five sprays per side. If you love the way the studio smells, or you just want your drawers and your travel bag to feel a little more put together, this is a small luxury that earns its keep. For anyone who wants a heavy, room-filling fragrance, look at a larger diffuser instead. We would rather point you to the right thing than oversell this one.
Come see us
We carry the full Davines line at our studio at 104 S Capitol Blvd in downtown Boise, and every product on our shelves is one we actually use. If you are curious how the scent reads in person, come smell it before you commit. While you are here, we are always happy to talk hair, whether that is a fresh color or a cut, during a consultation. Ready to book your next appointment? You can schedule online and we will see you behind the chair.
